Travel Diary is my first attempt at type design. I chose to design a very basic, hand drawn display type face, inspired by the font ‘Sketchy’ which was way too sketchy for me. I toned down the ‘sketchiness’ in it and hand drew letters on a 2”X2” grid, scanned and digitalised them. The font was displayed at an exhibition in Linden, Hannover, Germany and is up for a free download on dafont.com and is currently above 50,000 downloads. It is also available for a commercial licensed download on myfonts.
The typeface was made during a typedesign course at FHH, Hannover, Germany

Update: Do check out the amazingly illustrated book for children - ‘The little boy/girl who lost his/her name’ at www.lostmy.name, designed and published by 3 fathers based in the UK. The book is made using the Travel diary font.
